We celebrated our annual Founder's Day this year on Friday 5 April, and this gave us the opportunity to pay our own tribute to Frances Mary Buss in all she achieved to establish this school. The words of the commemoration invite us to remember all the individuals and groups of people who have supported and strengthened the school over the decades since its foundation in 1871.
We listened to thoughtful speeches from our Head Students, all of whom made connections between Miss Buss’s educational vision and their own experience in this school.
Our students and staff provided uplifting music and singing, and the Headteacher's address encouraged us to reflect on Miss Buss's revolutionary approach to schooling and to recognise its continuing importance in the present day.
It was heartening to see so many parents, old girls, governors and friends of the school attending the commemoration as guests. Many thanks to all who came.
