    Music Ensembles


    It is vital that students who play or sing should join one of the school’s groups. Making music together is what it's all about! We have a busy programme of concerts over the year.

    Here are details of the groups that we run, do discuss these opportunities with your daughter.

    Junior Voices - This choir is open to all girls in Years 7 and 8. You will sing in a wide variety of styles (musical theatre, classical, folk, jazz, gospel, pop) and in the summer many girls from this choir form the cast for our main school musical. Tuesdays - lunchtime

    Junior Brass Ensemble - This group is open to any brass players from grades 1-5 standard. Tuesdays – 08.30-09.00

    Junior Woodwind Ensemble - This group is open to any woodwind players from grades 1-5 standard.
    Thursdays – 08.30-09.00 

    String Group - This group is open to all string players from grades 1-5 standard. Wednesdays- lunchtime

    Symphony Orchestra - This is our advanced ensemble which is open to any orchestral player from grade 5 standard and upwards. Tuesdays - 3:45-5:00

    Big Band - This is another higher level group that is open to any woodwind or brass players from grade 5 standard and upwards. Thursdays - lunchtime

    Chamber Choir - This is an advanced group for male and female singers (Yrs 9-13) which performs more challenging pieces from the classical repertoire. Thursdays - 3:45-5:00

    Street Choir - This intermediate group is open to singers (Yrs 9-11) and explores a range of jazz, funk, soul and RnB classics. Thursdays - lunchtime

    Jazz Band - This advanced group is for our sixth form jazz musicians and singers who wish to develop their small ensemble and improvisational skills. Mondays - lunchtime

    Junior Jazz Band - Open to all players from beginning to more advanced (Yrs 7-9) exploring a variety of music with a jazz approach. Thursdays - lunchtime

    Band Workshops - These sessions are run on a less formal basis by our guitar teachers (6th form) and Mr Cambata from Torriano Juniors depending on demand. They can be formed by any students in years 7-13 who are interested in playing popular music styles in a band setting with like-minded musicians.
    Mondays – lunchtime (6th form); Thursdays – 3:45-5:00 (years 7-11)
