    Our Dofe Expedition

The weekend started off on Saturday 26 April in the early morning, when all the Duke of Edinburgh students met at Marylebone station at 9:30 AM. Our backpacks were heavily packed with all the equipment needed and once everyone arrived, we boarded the 9:57 train to Great Missenden. Once we’d arrived, we met the supervisors who would be helping us throughout the trip. There were five groups and five instructors (one being Mr Doyland himself). Each group of 7 girls was assigned to their supervisor and we talked about our equipment, we were off!

We lugged our bags up huge hills and uneven ground for hours! After we took one or two wrong turns we finally got to the destination of the campsite. We set up our tents, organized ourselves and then cooked dinner. Most of us had pasta, it was delicious! At 9 o’clock we got into our tent ready for a lovely sleep after a long day of walking. During the night no one could sleep (except Mr Doyland) because it was freezing, raining and very windy.

We woke up bright and early even though lots of us hadn’t even slept, after we made breakfast and then cleared up all the tents we packed our bags and set off. The walk that day was even longer, and we were very exhausted by the end, but we all made it and got home safely. It was a great experience, and we will have to relive it in June.
