    'New Views'

    Playwriting Competition

Since January, a group of sixth form students have been working with both professional playwright Dawn King and myself on entries for the 'New Views' playwriting competition run by the National Theatre.

'New Views' is a fabulous project whereby students learn the art of playwriting through a series of workshops, and then write their own 25 minute original plays before entering them into a national competition. A longlist is drawn up, then a shortlist and the winning playwright receives a fully realised performance of their work at the Dorfman Theatre.

This year, I am thrilled to inform you that two of our playwrights, Sol and Star in Year 12, have been longlisted for their phenomenally creative and extremely thought-provoking plays. We are waiting to find out if they make the shortlist but, regardless of what happens next, this is a huge achievement and I would like to congratulate them both on their hard work, resilience and responsiveness to feedback throughout this creative endeavour.

    Well done Star and Sol!
