Girls were great ambassadors for CSG, being polite, great sports women who showed courage, resilience and positivity.
11 girls from CSG stepped in at the last minute and played hockey representing Camden at the London Youth Games. Only a couple of the girls had ever picked up a hockey stick before and they were clearly at a disadvantage against the more experienced boroughs.
Despite this, the girls fought on bravely, playing 6 matches and were not hugely outplayed by any of the other teams. They did finish bottom, as was expected, but they were all smiling and enjoyed the day. They were great ambassadors for CSG, being polite, great sports women who showed courage, resilience and positivity even in defeat.
Hockey is not one of the sports played at the CSG; however, many of the girls have shown an interest in playing and will hopefully join clubs. Some of them certainly had ‘natural’ talent and were able to use skills drawn from other sports.
