    PE Round up

Students who have been attending Football club regularly this year went on a tour of the Emirates Stadium on Monday! They were able to see the changing rooms, (and learned about the psychology behind their design), sat in the dugout, visited the Director’s box, and press conference room. They also saw the WSL trophy and Continental cups alongside pictures of this season’s successful women’s team!

Our Year 8 Football team received gold medals this term for their success in this year’s Arsenal in the Community Under 13 league. It was a closely contested competition with CSG finishing top of the table on goal difference! The winning team were Marwa, Ava, Olivia, Marie, Sofia, Lily, Bibi and Luce. They have been invited to celebrate their success at a special Awards Evening at the Emirates Stadium next week!

In Athletics this term, we experienced a huge amount of success in the Borough competition. We won Year 9 Shot Put (Aisha), Javelin (Aisha) and High Jump (Bella); Year 8 800m (Jess), and Year 7 High Jump (Isis).  We achieved 2nd place in Year 9 Long Jump (Matilda), and Year 8 High Jump (Maya). We achieved 3rd place in: Year 9 Hurdles (Maste), Year 9 Discus (Raya), and Year 8 Shot Put (Ava). Well done to everyone who took part!

As a result of their performances at the Borough competition, 4 students were selected to represent Camden at the London Schools junior competition - well done to Kathryn (7T), Maya (8T), Frankie (8T) and Jess (8M).

A number of 9 and 10 students were selected for the London Schools Intermediate competition: Abigaelle (10T), Mia (10M), Halle (10R), Raya (9R), Matilda (9R), Caitlin (9R), Bella (9M), and Aisha (9R). As she was so impressive in the junior trials, Jess (8M) was also selected to run in the older age category!

As we saw in last week’s Friday News, Aisha (9R) was selected to represent London at the English Schools Athletics competition, which is taking place this weekend. We wish Aisha the best of luck!

Finally, we have also completed the final Interform Competitions of the year, with some very hard fought contests at Cantelowes! The winning forms are:

    • Year 9 Netball - 9M
    • Year 8 Outwitting Opponents
    • Year 7 Netball - 7T

Well done to everyone for taking part and creating such a great atmosphere!
