Last week two Year 13 students, Betsy and Hanna, combined celebrating Hanukkah with raising money for one of the Sixth Form’s chosen charities, Solace Women’s Aid.
Solace Women’s Aid exists to end the harm done through Violence Against Women and Girls. Their aim is to work to prevent violence and abuse as well as providing services to meet the needs of survivors particularly women and girls.
Betsy and Hanna sold doughnuts and were so successful that they decided to extend their sale to a second day. The final total was an impressive £110.
Thanks to everyone who bought one.
Carol Singing for CRISIS
On Monday 10 December the Sixth Form went to Highbury and Islington station to sing carols and other Christmas songs to raise money for CRISIS. CRISIS works directly with thousands of homeless people every year. They provide vital help so that people can rebuild their lives and are supported out of homelessness for good.
We have supported this charity for a long time and always raise a substantial amount of money. This year was no exception, and we are sending them £425.
Many thanks to all the students and staff who came along and were such enthusiastic singers and bucket shakers. Huge thanks to Mr Byers and Ms Gordon for providing the song sheets, the keyboard, the sleigh bells and their wonderful musicality.
