We heard with sadness before Christmas of the death of Eve Fortnum, who taught art here from September 1974 until August 2003.
Eve was a much-respected colleague who passed on real enthusiasm for art to generations of students, developing their skills and giving them confidence in their ability to succeed. Eve was a very talented artist herself who trained at Camberwell School of Art and we were delighted to receive a pair of her drawings recently as a gift to the school. These have been displayed in the Sixth Form House foyer.
Eve contributed enormous expertise and knowledge to the art department across many disciplines making her own important contribution to its outstanding reputation. She was especially known for her in-depth knowledge of complex sculptural materials and processes such mold-making and casting.
Eve was a very caring teacher and she was a Sixth Form year head for a number of years until her retirement. She enjoyed the pastoral role and provided excellent guidance and advice during her time in the role.
