Subject Specific Assessment Criteria

     

    Each subject is divided up into specific areas and each area has a set of criteria. At each reporting stage students are assessed against the criteria and assigned an academic stage.

    There are 6 academic stages in Year 7 and Year 8.

    Year 7:

    • FOUNDATION - you are currently finding it difficult to access the year 7 curriculum in this subject.
    • BEGINNING to acquire the knowledge and skills you need in order to progress towards year 7 expectations
    • DEVELOPING your knowledge, understanding and skills in order to reach year 7 expectations
    • SECURE IN your knowledge, understanding and skills and meeting year 7 expectations
    • EXTENDING your knowledge, understanding and skills and broadening year 7 expectations
    • EXCELLING in your knowledge, understanding and skills and surpassing year 7 expectations

    Year 8:

    • FOUNDATION (F2, F1, F) - you are currently finding it difficult to access the year 8 curriculum in this subject.
    • BEGINNING to acquire the knowledge and skills you need in order to progress towards year 8 expectations
    • DEVELOPING your knowledge, understanding and skills in order to reach year 8 expectations
    • SECURE IN your knowledge, understanding and skills and meeting year 8 expectations
    • EXTENDING your knowledge, understanding and skills and broadening year 8 expectations
    • EXCELLING in your knowledge, understanding and skills and surpassing year 8 expectations

    Year 9:

    In Year 9 the grade range has been reduced to 1 – 5 (highest), with grade 3 and higher equating to GCSE ready. The grade range used will be as follows:

    1- 1 1+ 2- 2  2+ 3- 3   3+ 4- 4 4+ 5- 5 5+

    The grades achieved in Year 9 should be seen as the foundation for achievement at GCSE. They cannot be seen as a prediction for future outcomes as they are based solely on the Year 9 curriculum.
