ICT

    ICT stands for information and communication technology.

    As of September 2014, Year 7 students study ICT/Computing as a discrete subject and across the curriculum. In years 8 and 9 they learn ICT/Computing  through using it in all subjects across the curriculum. This strategy is designed to ensure that relevant use of IT supports learning in all areas. Students use a wide range of software, both standard Office products and "cutting edge" software including geographical information systems and a range of exciting web technologies. Assessment is carried out via both specialist teachers and staff who deliver the ICT/Computing curriculum via their subject. We are currently trialling a new assessment booklet - see example of the year 7 one attached below.

    Keystage 3 curriculum 2016-17

    Year 7 (Digital literacy and Computing): ICT @ Csg and Esafety, Game design in Scratch, Inside a computer and Networking, Logic and introduction to binary, Presentations for a target audience, Searching for information on a database and Google Earth.

    Year 8 (Computing and use of ICT to solve problems): Programming in Python, Web design, Esafety, Desktop publishing

    Year 9 (The use of ICT to solve problems): World of technology -pioneers -past and present, Spreadsheets, Robotics and Engduino, Esafety and digital imaging.

     

    In Years 10 and 11 students may choose ICT as an option. 

    Year 10 study the Edexcel GCSE ICT course, this consists of two components 40% Examination taken at the end of year 11 and 60% Controlled assessment.

    All students and staff have access to the school network from outside school via our remote access system. In addition all students and staff  access to London Grid for Learning (LGFL) apps and email.
