A class of Year 9 Design Technology students have been taking part in a school competition to design a new sandwich for the food outlet Pret a Manger. They learnt about the company values and ethos which included using locally sourced ingredients, reducing their carbon footprint and minimising food wastage. They also learnt about how the company supports the homeless and ex-offenders by helping them get back into the world of work. Each of the schools’ teams had to pitch their idea against each other and present to the Pret development team at their Head Office. We are delighted that we won the overall competition with the winning sandwich being named 'The Tuscan Antipasti'. This week the Pret team arrived in school to donate 200 packs of the winning sandwich to the school community.
Well done to all the students who took part and to Paddy, Stella and Chanya who represented the school in such a creative and positive way.
Comments from students and teachers who ate the sandwiches:
“I could eat this every day!”
“Can we have these in school all the time?”
“Really fresh and tasty”
