    North London Final of ESU London Debate Challenge

    Our students did extremely well debating these difficult ideas against very good opposition and were praised by the judges for the development of their points.

    On Monday 26 June, the CSG debating team (Madeleine, Micol, Tallulah, Quimey and Molly) travelled to the English Speaking Union's headquarters in Mayfair to take part in the North London regional final of the London Debate Challenge.

    The afternoon saw our students take part in three debates against the other finalists from North London. The debates were as follows;

    - This house would ban home schooling (CSG in proposition)

    - This house would return all significant cultural artefacts to their country of origin (CSG in opposition)

    - This house would set aside university places for children from disadvantaged backgrounds (CSG in proposition)

    Our students did extremely well debating these difficult ideas against very good opposition and were praised by the judges for the development of their points.

    Unfortunately, at the end of the day, the judges decided that the CSG team didn't quite do enough to make it through to the London final. However, the day was a fantastic experience for our debaters and was a good end to a successful year of debating.
