    London Debate Challenge

    It was a fantastic experience and the CSG debaters did very well against tough opposition from all over London.

    On Monday 22 May six debaters (Bluebelle 10M, Madeleine 9M, Micol 9M, Quimey 9T, Molly 9M and Tallulah 9M) went to the English Speaking Union's headquarters in Dartmouth House, Mayfair to take part in the annual London Debate Challenge along with six other schools.

    In the morning, students took part in debating games and received coaching from experienced ESU debating mentors.

    In the afternoon Madeleine, Micol, Quimey, Molly and Tallulah took part in three debates representing the school. These were;

    - This house would require the media to display, promote and report women's sport equally to men's sport (CSG in proposition)
    - This house believes that celebrities should receive harsher punishments for their crimes than ordinary people (CSG in opposition)
    - This house would cease all funding for space exploration (CSG in opposition)

    It was a fantastic experience and the CSG debaters did very well against tough opposition from all over London. The judges were particularly impressed with the way our debaters engaged with both sides of the arguments and commented on our strong rebuttal.

    We did well enough to be selected as one of the four teams to get through to the ESU London Debate Challenge final in July which we look forward to.
