    6th Form Debaters Take Part in Oxford Schools Competition

    It was a fantastic experience for our debaters and the feedback they received from judges will certainly help them in future competitions.

    On Thursday 19 January, Mr Gunn accompanied six Year 12 students (Conrad Martinez-Lambert, Leon Dailani, Hannah Morris, Leila Levy-Gale, Jacob Knapper and Adam Orford) to the North London round of the Oxford Schools debating competition held at Kingsbury High School. Over the course of the evening, our three teams took part in two debates against teams from around London. The motions for the evening were as follows;

    - This House Would Never Use Jury Trials
    - This House Would Introduce a Minimum 40% Quota for Women in Parliament

    Interestingly, Hannah and Leila were up against a team from North London Collegiate (the first school founded by Frances Mary Buss) for the second debate, where they were proposing the motion.

    CSG debaters did extremely well in these difficult debates and made a very good account of themselves. Although no teams made it through to the next round, it was a fantastic experience for our debaters and the feedback they received from judges will certainly help them in future competitions.
