The Jack Petchey ‘Speak Out Challenge!’

On the 2 October, 26 Y10 students took part in the Jack Petchey ‘Speak Out Challenge!’, a  well-established and highly regarded public speaking training and competition programme for all secondary schools in London and Essex. The programme is sponsored by the Jack Petchey Foundation and delivered by Speakers Trust.

As a result of their participation in this lively and inspiring programme, students received training to be able to understand the key ingredients of successful public speaking, speak in front of a group, prepare and deliver a competition speech, master the art of speaking without notes or extensive preparation and increase their confidence.

Four speakers were selected to go through to the School Assembly competition stage of the ‘Speak Out Challenge’ which took place on the 5 of November.

Sade 10M and Chanya 10M have now gone forward to the Regional Final which will take place on the 29 of November at Hampstead School at 6.30 pm.

At the Regional Final, all finalists will receive a framed certificate from a VIP and have several professional photos taken. A distinguished panel of judges will be assessing and judging each performance and the finalists placed in the top three will win vouchers of £100 (1st), £50 (2nd) and £25 (3rd) and a trophy.

The Regional Champion may be selected to speak at next level of the ‘Speak Out Challenge!’ - the Jack Petchey ‘Speak Out Challenge!’  Grand Final.

The winner of the Grand Final will win £2,000 for themselves and £3,000 for their school.
